Hey everyone!
This first week of training has been going pretty good. Yesterday I did a 30 minute cardio workout, as per my training schedule.
I know you want to see it so, here it is!
Easy enough right?
If you want a copy emailed to you just let me know!
If you keep up with it, I promise you will be able to complete a half marathon.
Also, remember that life has its obstacles, so if you can't complete a 4 mile run/walk when you're supposed to, brush it off, and pick back up the next day!
If you've completed long distance races before, let me know how you trained.

Running Essentials Part One
As a new runner or even experienced runners, it's important to think about the essential items that will help you through those miles.
I'll start with what I think is the most important - SHOES!
There are my favorite shoes - aren't they a beauty? These shoes are Brooks Ghost 2.
When looking for the perfect fit, take into consideration the arch of your foot.
Do you have flat, high arched, or normal-neutral feet?
Runners with flat feet should look for a "motion control" shoe.
If you have a high arch - you would benefit from a "cushioned" shoe.
Finally, if you have a normal, or neutral arch - look for a "stability" type of shoe.
Before I started training for my race last year, I had NO clue as to how much thought comes into finding the perfect pair of running shoes. I was able to go to my local sports apparel store and they custom fit my foot - turns out I'm an underpronator! I bet if you go to yours and ask, they would be more than happy to help you find the perfect shoe - they want a sale after all right?
What brand are your favorite running shoes?
What do you think is essential to your running? Let me know and I'll feature it as a blog topic!

Let's Just Start Fresh
Here goes!
I've decided to do what some people call crazy... that is... run my second half marathon!
Last year, I participated in Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society in trade for motivation and training to cross the finish line in my first ever half marathon!
This year - I'm doing it again... on my own. Scary!
I'll be training to run in the Rock N' Roll Mardi Gras Half Marathon on February 13, 2011!
Need motivation? Want to inspire/motivate me? Follow me so that we can do this together.
I'll be posting my training plan and other tips in the near future, so come back and check it out!
